We miss you. We miss the laughs, the screams, the smell of funnel cakes and most of all your smiling faces. But now, the thrills are back again and we are ready to welcome you back to Colorado's only combined theme & water park! Here at Elitch Gardens, we have added new safety guidelines throughout the park to assure the park is a safe place to be and have fun. Read all about it below so you are prepped and ready for your first visit!
New Guidelines. Same FUN!
Our safety and suppression plan is designed to meet or exceed any and all guidelines set forth by the city and county of Denver, the state of Colorado, World Health Organization (“WHO”), Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (“CDC”), Occupational Safety and Health Administration (“OSHA”) and respected industry organizations such as the International Association of Amusement Parks and Attractions (IAAPA), the World Waterpark Association (WWA), International Ride Training (IRT) and Jeff Ellis & Associates, Inc. (E&A) to assure the park is a safe place to be and have fun.
Elitch Gardens will:
Encourage Face Masks: Un-vaccinated Guests will be encouraged to wear a face-covering while in the park, especially in restaurants, indoor retail locations and while in ride queue lines. If a Guest does not already have a face covering, they will be available at our parking toll booths and at retail locations in the park.
Require Un-Vaccinated Employees to Wear a Mask: Un-vaccinated Team Members will be required to wear a mask while at work.
Practice Social Distancing: All Guests are encouraged to follow social distancing guidelines and maintain 6 feet of space from others. Immediate family members who live in the same household may be closer together.
Please Note: Social Distancing is a shared responsibility between our guests and the park. We provide guidance, but we also count on our guests to follow this guidance in order to maintain the safest conditions for all guests and team members.
Promote Hand Hygiene & Respiratory Etiquette: Additional hand sanitizing stations will be placed throughout the park and signs displayed to encourage all employees and guests to wash their hands often and cover their coughs and sneezes. Guests will be required to use hand sanitizer before boarding rides/attractions.
Encourage Electronic Payments: Guests will also be encouraged to purchase daily parking, meal deals and other ticket add-ons online at www.elitchgardens.com prior to arriving at the park to minimize interactions during the park entry experience. Guests are also encouraged to use a credit card, EZ Band funds or other contactless payments instead of using cash.
Water Safety: Water park chlorine and ph levels will continue to be constantly inspected to ensure guest safety. The CDC has stated, “There is no evidence that COVID-19 can be spread to humans through the use of pools and hot tubs. Proper operation, maintenance, and disinfection (e.g. with chlorine and bromine) of pools and hot tubs should remove or inactivate the virus that causes COVID-19.”
Clean, Disinfect and Sanitize on a Continuous Basis: Elitch Gardens uses cleaning protocols that meet EPA guidelines. These products are approved for use and effective against viruses, bacteria and other airborne pathogens. The frequency of cleaning and sanitizing has been increased in all public spaces, both in-park and team member-only areas, with an emphasis on high-touch surfaces. We encourage guests to read all instructional signs inside the park to maintain a safe environment for you as well as the other guests.
Manage Use of Indoor Areas & Communal Spaces: With social distancing requirements in mind, shows in our theater, as well as summer concerts are canceled for the season. Our guests spend their entire day outdoors in the sunshine or in shaded areas, except for the restrooms and other minor service areas which are disinfected routinely throughout the day. Employee break areas are expanded for social distancing and use of communal areas are staggered.
Provide COVID-19 Training to All Team Members: All Elitch Gardens team members will be trained on COVID-19 safety protocols and safe behaviors.
- Do I have to make a reservation?
Reservations are not required to visit Elitch Gardens.
- Can I buy a season pass or ticket at the park?
Yes you can, however, we encourage guests to purchase passes and other ticket add-ons online at www.elitchgardens.com prior to arriving at the park to minimize interactions during the park entry experience.
- If one person in my family or group has symptoms of the coronavirus (see below), does my whole party need to stay home?
If everyone in your family or group has been exposed to the person who has symptoms, it’s best if everyone in your party stays home and reschedules your visit.
- What are the symptoms and conditions that could indicate a potential case of the coronavirus?
Any of the following symptoms that are not caused by a known chronic health condition:
- Fever (100.4°F / 38°C or higher)
- Difficulty breathing
- Unusual fatigue
- Cold or flu-like symptoms
- Repeated shaking/chills
- New loss of taste or smell
- Muscle pain
- Sore throat
Additionally, you could be contagious if you have been in direct contact with a close relative, roommate or neighbor who has been diagnosed with the coronavirus or been told by a health care professional or employer you may have been exposed to the coronavirus.
- Will I be required to wear a face covering?
Based on the recently announced guidance from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control, Guests visiting Elitch Gardens Theme and Water Park are no longer required to wear masks while in the Park; however, non-vaccinated guests are still encouraged to wear face coverings while visiting the park, especially while in restaurants, indoor retail locations and ride queue lines. Exceptions for guests ages 2 and under and while riding water attractions.
- Are all rides and attractions at Elitch Gardens open?
Most rides will be open. However, some rides and attractions are inherently not set up for social distancing, so for everyone’s health and safety, they are closed for now. Including: concerts, shows, Mouse House and Goofy Gazebo.
- If there are seating adjustments made to rides or dining areas, will that make lines longer?
Unfortunately yes. There may be longer than usual wait times due to increased cleaning and sanitation and reduced capacity on attractions. We appreciate your patience as we work through these new challenges together.
- Once I am in the park, how long can I stay?
You are welcome to stay as long as you like until the park closes for the day.
- Can I leave the park and come back in?
Yes you can. Be sure to keep your ticket stub and get a hand stamp before exiting the park.
Notice to Parents & Guardians:
All minor guests aged 15 years and under must be accompanied by an Adult Chaperone defined as a parent, legal guardian or other responsible, supervising adult at least 21 years of age who traveled to the park with the minor's party.
Beginning at 3:00pm, all minor guests aged 16-17 years must also be accompanied by an Adult Chaperone defined as a parent, legal guardian or other responsible, supervising adult at least 21 years of age who traveled to the park with the minor's party.
Adult chaperones must be able to provide valid ID, including a photograph and date of birth.
Adult chaperones must be present at the time of entry and remain within the park for the duration of their party's visit.
This policy is subject to change at Elitch Gardens' discretion.
Elitch Gardens does not assume any responsibility or liability for unattended minors; children and the behavior of all minors are the sole responsibility of their parent(s) or guardian(s), and parents/guardians may be held legally liable for all acts of the children under their care.
Minors in violation of the Elitch Gardens' rules may be ejected (without refund) or detained, in Elitch Gardens' discretion, as evaluated on a case-by-case basis. While Elitch Gardens may attempt to contact a minor's parent/guardian to have them picked up, this is done out of concern and courtesy, but is not bound to a duty or be held responsible or liable if a minor leaves the park, or for anything occurring after a minor has left park grounds.
Thank you for your help in responsibly supervising, monitoring and controlling minors in your care.
If while at the park you cannot locate your child, Elitch Gardens staff is here to assist you; however, we do not page guests. We suggest that as you enter the park you decide on a centralized meeting place should you be separated from any minors under your care.
- What about face coverings when guests are eating?
We have arranged tables and seating so that guests can remove their face coverings while they eat.
- How will ride/attraction seating and queue lines work?
Ride seating capacity to be managed to allow for appropriate social distancing. Riders will no longer be grouped with non-family or non-traveling parties. Attraction queuing will be altered thus eliminating side to side lines to help assure appropriate social distancing while guests wait to ride. Markers will be added to the ground and/or queue rails to remind guests of appropriate social distancing.
- What about the retail shops?
Fitting rooms will be closed until further notice. Guests will not be permitted to try on clothing. All sales shall be final until further notice.
- Is the park still allowing use of Souvenir Cup refills?
Yes, the park is still permitting the use of Souvenir Cup refills. To help protect both the guest and our staff we are asking our guest to hold on to their cups as we provide them with a disposable cup in lieu of our staff filling guest cups.
- Do I need to wash my hands even though there is Chlorine in the water?
YES, wash your hands as frequently as possible. Use soap and water for at least 20 seconds, especially after going to the bathroom, before eating, and after blowing your nose, coughing, or sneezing.
- Will these new procedures be in place for Fright Fest?
More details about these events will be shared at a later time.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, as well as local health departments, advise that older adults and individuals with underlying medical conditions may be at a higher risk for severe illness due to COVID-19.
